There were some out there, believe me. We could have overpaid. There were some bad contracts out there. We could have made a bad deal. We didn’t want to do that.”<br /><br />Another, from The Star:<br /><br />“If I made the offers which teams gave us public, it would be unanimous in the GTA that we should have kept Tomas Kaberle. Not close to unanimous. Not overwhelming. Unanimous.”<br /><br />Considering two of the teams rumoured to be in the running for Kaberle were Boston and Tampa, Ryder and Malone were probably offered by their respective teams. Both are pretty mediocre and expensive. I would think about taking Ryder if the trade involved either the Leafs' 1st (unlikely) or a very good young player. As for Malone, 5 more years at a $4.5 cap hit WITH a no-trade or no-movement (if I'm not mistaken) is just awful.Bo Danglesnoreply@blogger.com
